The “Children Under Social Protection” project at Beit Shabtai Levi children’s home.

Children arriving at this home have often been through stress and find it hard to cope with a sudden change in their lives. Many do not know what a safe home, comfort, clean clothes and care feel like. But they know their parents. In a moment, they lose even that familiar connection. New people — police officers and social workers — take them to a new place, where caring but unfamiliar people, the Beit Shabtai Levi staff, welcome them.
Shock, stress and uncertainty.

Children coming to Beit Shabtai Levi have often experienced severe stress and struggle with the sudden changes in their lives. Some have never known a comfortable home, clean clothing or steady care. Yet they know their parents. Suddenly, they are separated even from them. Unfamiliar police officers and social workers take them to a new place, where caring strangers from Beit Shabtai Levi meet them. This change brings shock, stress and uncertainty.

The decision is made by the courts. The Beit Shabtai Levi team takes care of the children and provides the help they need: treating head lice, arranging eye tests and carrying out other urgent checks to understand each child’s needs.

We prepare a special box for every newly arrived child, with the words “Everything will be all right!” on it.
Inside are a pillow, a blanket, bed linen, a towel, a toy, pyjamas, a toothbrush and other essentials.
The colourful gift box helps create a sense of comfort, allowing the child to relax and feel that they will be welcomed and cared for here.
